Voorhees, NJ - December 2 , 2007
Last season no team gave the Growl minor team fits than the Wallington Grizzlies. All for good reason too, the Grizzlies eventually won the minor league championship. This season the Growl added what they felt last team was missing, veteran leadership and experience to help lead the deep talent pool of young scorers in the Growl system. The goal is obvious, to take back the championship from the Grizzlies who were in town on Sunday.
A familiar face was found on the other bench, as former Growl minor leaguer JJ Fichter made a move to ISCA during the off-season. After splitting their opening games against the Demolition the night before, the Growl was hopeful that with a full bench on Sunday the team would have a more consistant effort.
In game one, Growl forwards Ken CLark and Jon lucente both made their 2007-08 debuts and they scored all the goals for the Growl, en route to a 3-1 victory in front of goalie Mike Maczynski.
A penalty filled second game was the theme for the second game. It was obvious that this season the Growl and Grizzlies would be fierce competetors. Matt Grabert scored two powerplay goals for the Growl and JJ Fichter assisted all three goals for the Grizzlies. The Growl did fall short in game two, but a rivalry was certainly renewed.
