Morristown, NJ - December 23 , 2007
Entering the games on Sunday in Morristown, the Growl was riding a high from two exciting late game victories the night before. It was about time the Growl flexed their muscle a bit and showed the sort of offense they could attack with.
Game one was all Growl from the first drop of the puck. Ryan Mara continued his hot start with the team scoring the games first goal. He would tally twice more in the game for a hat trick and goals also came from Matt Graber and Justin Mallone. Goaltender Mike Maczynski dtayed perfect on the year and picked up his first PIHA shutout and 5th win of the season.
Game two was a more familiar situation for the Growl. The offense went dormat again for a stretch in the first period, while the Stampede built a 2-0 lead. The Growl answered late in the first period with goals from Jon Lucente and Erik Barney to tie the game at 2-2.
The Growl was fortunite to be tied at the half and the Stampede made them pay early in the second half. Once again the Garden State Growl was down late in the game. A new hero emerged as Don Susini found Mike Campanaro streaking at the net and the game was tied 3-3. Susini was not through as he scored moments later to take the lead, one that the Growl would never relinquish. In fact Ryan Mara would ice the game with a power play goal late in the game and the Growl were victories for the 4th straight time. Marc Teshic recorded his first victory of the season in the win and the Growl climbed to 6-2 for the season.
